Dynamic Shear Strength Characteristics of Lightweight Sand-EPS Soil

چکیده

Lightweight sand–EPS soil (LSES) is regarded as a kind of sustainable geomaterial for providing way to reutilize fast-growing waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) packages. It usually applied in marine geotechnical engineering solve the excessive settling soft ground or bumps at bridge heads due its merits such low density, high strength, and adjustability. Aiming investigate dynamic shear strength LSES made from sand, series laboratory triaxial experiments was conducted on with different proportions control sand (CS). The influences cement content, EPS bead confining pressure were analyzed, comparisons material sand. found that increased increase content pressure. bonding function hydration products contributed LSES; however, work required certain cement. decreased particle smooth surface beads. cyclic number failure (Nf) both CS linearly stress semilogarithmic coordinates. Both slopes intercepts However, they content.

Shear Strength of Soil

One of the most important and the most controversial engineering properties of soil is its shear strength or ability to resist sliding along internal surfaces within a mass. The stability of a cut, the slope of an earth dam, the foundations of structures, the natural slopes of hillsides and other structures built on soil depend upon the shearing resistance offered by the soil along the probable...

MODELING FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF EPS LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE USING REGRESSION, NEURAL NETWORK AND ANFIS

Lightweight concrete (LWC) is a kind of concrete that made of lightweight aggregates or gas bubbles. These aggregates could be natural or artificial, and expanded polystyrene (EPS) lightweight concrete is the most interesting lightweight concrete and has good mechanical properties. Bulk density of this kind of concrete is between 300-2000 kg/m3. In this paper flexural strength of EPS is modeled...

effect of particle crushing on shear strength and dilation characteristics of sand-gravel mixtures

there are limitations in experimental studies on sand-gravel mixtures due to the small size of testingspecimens. due to this problem, many researchers have worked on prediction of the shear strength of mixture by testingthe sandy fraction of soil alone and developed empirical relationships. most of the previous relationships have beendetermined for low surcharge pressures in which particle brea...

Lightweight Geopolymer Concrete with EPS Beads

Activation of class F fly ash with the 10 M sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate and its geopolymeric products were analysed under quasi-isothermal mode of DSC, FTIR and TG/DTA techniques. Before adding in concrete, expanded polystyrene beads were prewetted with the styrenebutadienestyrene latex aimed at to improve their bonding with geopolymer. Lightweight mortars/concretes were made from geop...
